Thigh Lift

Do you carry excess skin or fat on your thighs?

A thigh lift can reshape and rejuvenate the thighs by reducing excess skin and fat, resulting in smoother skin and better contours for the thighs and lower body.

Thigh lifts are not intended strictly for the removal of excess fat. Liposuction or body contouring can remove excess fat deposits where skin has good elasticity and is able to naturally conform to new body contours. In cases where skin elasticity is poor, a thigh lift along with liposuction may be recommended.

What you need to know about a thigh lift

    • Length of surgery:  2 – 3 hours
    • Anaesthetic type:  General anaesthetic
    • Hospital stay: 1 – 2 days
  •

Recovery from a thigh lift

  • Removal of sutures and review of wound 10 – 14 days post operatively
  • Support garment to be worn for 4 – 6 weeks post operatively
  • Return to work 3 – 6 weeks post operatively
  • Return to driving 2 – 3 weeks post operatively
  • Return to exercise – 6 weeks post operatively
  • Start to get an appreciation of end result 12 – 24 weeks post operatively
  • Scars will continue to improve 12 – 18 months post operatively

The operation removes excess tissue from the thigh area and the type of thigh lift needs to be tailored to the individual. Various types of thigh lift procedures are available and may be combined with liposuction. For patients following significant weight loss, other adjunctive procedures may be required.

A thigh lift often takes between 1.5 and 2.5 hours.

A classic thigh lift involves an incision along the inner part of the thigh and often extends into the groin crease. The incision can extend towards the knee and can also extend towards the buttock. Liposuction is performed and then the excess fat and skin are removed.

My sincere gratitude

"I have no words to explain my sincere gratitude for all you have done for me. For most of my life I have avoided mirrors and fitted clothing and any kind of event that may show my body. Thanks to you and your team I can now start living again. Thank you to the staff and nurses for the patience and care while I was on your ward; I felt like a nuisance but you always made me feel I was no trouble. This surgery has been a very long time coming and a massive part of my dysphoria. Mr Fitton, you have changed my life, thank you!"
