Rhinoplasty | Cost | Risks | Recovery

Also know as a nose job or nose reshaping, Rhinoplasty can help boost your confidence, balance the feature of your nose and give you an enhanced appearance you can be proud of.

Antony Fitton can reshape the bridge, tip, septum, nostrils, and overall profile of the nose to enhance the appearance and create a more proportionate nose.

Whilst surgical techniques are advanced, there are medical limitations as to how much the nose can be altered.

Each patient will be advised on the specific changes that can be performed and manage expectations of what results can be achieved during their consultation.

Rhinoplasty or Nose Job
How much does it cost and is it right for me?

A Rhinoplasty procedure (or nose job) refines the nose by surgically reshaping the bone, tissue, and cartilage or by inserting grafts or implants into the nose. It is not uncommon for a nose to lack symmetry, have a slight bump or to have a deviated septum.

Resize & Reshape your Nose

Every patient is different which is why Mr Fitton takes the time to discuss the most appropriate surgery and achievable results with you.

You will typically feel a little bit sore and uncomfortable following surgery, pain relief will be prescribed as required to ease any discomfort.

It is important to attend all your post-op appointments so a nurse can monitor your healing and deliver wound care.

Why undergo a nose job?

The motivation for undergoing a Rhinoplasty is usually to change the appearance of the nose, improve breathing or both.

The upper portion of the structure of the nose is bone, and the lower portion is cartilage. Rhinoplasty can change bone, cartilage, skin or all three to improve appearance and confidence.

The most common complaints are:

    • Mis-shapened nose
    • Nasal deviation
    • Nasal tip too big or drops of end of the nose
    • Nasal Obstruction

Rhinoplasty surgery is individually tailored for each case in order to address the specific features to be corrected.

How long does Rhinoplasty surgery take?

The rhinoplasty operation is performed under a general anaesthetic and takes about 2 hours to complete.

At the end of the operation nasal packs will be placed in each nostril that will be removed the following morning.

A firm splint will be moulded to the outside of the nose which will help to stabilise the reconstruction until healing is established. This splint will be removed at one of your follow up visits 10 days after your nasal surgery.

When can I take my nose splint off?

Most rhinoplasty patients will have a plastic split over the nose where the bones have fractured. This will be removed between 7 and 10 days after surgery.

How long is the recovery time for a Rhinoplasty  procedure?

For this common procedure, the normal rhinoplasty recovery time is somewhere between six and eight weeks.

You may need to take up to two weeks off work to recover from rhinoplasty surgery.

It might be several months before you see the full effect of the operation, and up to six months for the swelling to completely go.

There are a number of activities which should be avoided for all or some of this recovery period, including driving, sex and going to the gym or other vigorous exercise.

You will be required to stay in hospital one or two nights then you recover in the comfort of your own home.

How much does Rhinoplasty surgery cost?

The investment for Rhinoplasty surgery is approximately £5,948. This includes your surgeon, the procedure and aftercare.

Actual costs vary depending on the provider hospital you choose to have your surgery with.

What are the the risks of Rhinoplasty surgery?

The risks of Rhinoplasty include bruising, swelling and nasal stuffiness and take some weeks to settle. The nasal packs are used to reduce the chance of bleeding or a haematoma of the septum of the nose.

To reduce the risk of infection antibiotics are administered at the time of your surgery but if you experience increased pain, swelling or redness you should contact us for review. In some patients rhinorrhoea (runny nose) may persist or be severe enough to warrant nasal spray medication.

Summary

Rhinoplasty refers to a group of surgical procedures that change the size, shape and position of the nose to provide an effective solution for the many people who are unhappy with the aesthetic appearance of their nose. It is also commonly performed as a medical procedure to correct breathing issues and to help alleviate the symptoms of sleep apnoea, and is consequently one of the most common cosmetic surgery procedures performed across the world.
