What’s the Best Age for a Facelift?
If you’ve been considering plastic surgery for a facelift, you may have ideas about what a facelift actually is, and what it can accomplish.
With time and gravity, the skin of the face, the underlying fat pads and the suspensory ligaments loosen leading to the excess folds, troughs and bags commonly seen in the elderly.
A facelift is a considered a great option for rejuvenating your look.
In most cases, a facelift works best for people in their 40s, 50s, and 60s when the signs of aging begin to become prevalent.
Deep lines, wrinkles, fine lines, and sagging skin are the result of the aging process and can be best corrected through surgical techniques rather than non-surgical ones.
The best results are achieved in patients who have lost some weight, and still have retained facial bone stock. A facelift rejuvenates the lower half of the face and neck and jawline.
Am I the right age for a facelift?
A facelift is not usually the best surgical option for anyone under the age of 30, and for those who are in their 30’s it is still questionable whether they should be considering the procedure. There needs to be true signs of aging before a facelift is considered.
For most people, the benefits of a facelift can be most appreciated when they are in their 40s, 50s and 60s. This is because from around 40 onwards, the signs of aging that a facelift can target gradually (or for some, progressively quickly) become more and more prevalent.
Deep lines, wrinkles, jowls, and sagging skin are all signs of aging that are best targeted with surgical procedures.
However, everyone is different, everyone ages at their own natural rate, and everyone has their own ideal for how they would like to physically appear. This means that the appropriateness of the facelift procedure extremely personal and vary dependent on the patient.
Types of Facelifts
We offer two different types of facelifts that can be a better fit for you based on your goals. Mr Fitton will determine your best options during the consultation.
The Mini Facelift
A mini facelift is best for those who only need minimal improvement around the lower face. It’s an ideal choice if you have only minor signs of aging, so it’s a popular option for people in their late 30s and 40s. This type of surgery uses a minimal incision and comes with drastically reduced downtime versus a traditional facelift.
The Full Facelift
A full facelift is the version most people think of when they hear the term facelift.
It’s perfect for individuals who have moderate to severe signs of aging around the mid-face and neck. A full facelift works by removing and reshaping excess skin and fat tissue, resuspending it in a more upright and youthful position. It can produce more drastic results that are long-lasting and transformative.

Combining your Facelift Surgery
A facelift rejuvenates the lower half of the face and neck and jawline. To harmonise the facial features a Brow-lift, Neck-lift and Eyelid-lift are commonly performed in the same surgery.
Neck-lift
For patients with substantial signs of aging and sagging skin around the neck, a neck-lift is often combined to remove excess fat tissue, restoring the neck area to a more youthful and defined appearance. A neck-lift will give a well-rounded and complete facial rejuvenation.
Brow-lift
Occasionally, additional surgery is needed, and a brow-lift can tighten excess skin in the upper third of the face, restoring sagging brows and helping to get rid of the wavy lines on the forehead.
Eyelid-lift
Because a face-lift focuses on the lower and mid-face sections, patients with aging or tired eyes may not see the results they desire in the upper portion of the face without additional intervention.
A blepharoplasty procedure (or eyelid-lift), removes excess fat and sagging skin around the upper eyelids, lower lids, or both.
Why undergo multiple plastic surgery procedures at once?
Choosing to undergo multiple plastic surgery procedures at once helps minimise recovery time and maximises the impact of the results.
How much does a facelift cost?
The investment for a facelift starts at £6,071. This includes your surgeon, the procedure and aftercare.
Actual costs vary depending on your procedure and the provider hospital you choose to have your surgery with.
